that period is first --- d e s c e n t --- of DD. A solid row of average episodes, start with 52 Marchio rosso, even 2-3 numbers before. Actually, that 1991. was pretty poor. Just at end of year, come Frankenstein (solid) and then again The Rise - Terrore dall`infinito (and excellent series, 62, 63...)

I would not repute n?52 "Il Marchio Rosso" as an "average" episode of DD's nightmare career. On the contrary, it's a gorgeous episode full of political and exsistential issues and the drawings by Coppola really contribute the make me recollect the feelings and the plot of this story far better than Frankenstein....
Anyway, in this forum everyone has their own idea of Dylan's world; impossible to find unanimous agreement on a topic and that's obviously a good start for further discussions and fun.

as far as concerned n.52, that is not garbage, but for me is just average. I don`t apreciate (particularly) Sclavi`s attitudes on life. Mostly is too depresive and pathetic, and that can be boring (often). Too bad, because he is good writer and he can make excellent stories, especiely hommage (like in the beginning). Unfortunately, later, he turn in cheap philosophy and in that way corrupt his "Blade", all alone:)

Plus, i dont like Coppola;)

Hallo Zagortustra. I guess Vace will be happy to know that such a large number of people from Croatia love T. Sclavi too. We are also waiting for other stories by him and I've recently read in this forum that after the next two episodes by Barbato/Brindisi ("Xabaras!" and "In nome del Padre") celebrating Dylan's 20th birthady, two additional plots by Sclavi are coming ("Marti", drawings by Casertano and "L'assassino è tra noi", drawn by Stano). So, late 2006 will be a great moment for people who've been longing for the return of the "creator" for such a long time (5 years, sigh! [:(]).
I love Tiziano Sclavi as well, my favourite Tiziano's stories are those bound to Xabaras and to his "saga", but I also appreciate "Jhonny Freak", "Attraverso lo Specchio", the double story "Il castello della Paura", the extraterriastrial trilogy and many more. I love splatter as well and gory atmospheres that's why I am also into Chiaverotti ([:X] I LOVE CHIAVEROTTI [:X]) and really involved by many stories of his. However, I must admit that Tiziano is also a master of splatter...I really hope that oncoming episodes will lead to a heavy recovery of splatter-elements which have been a little bit dismissed lately.

hey, that make us - two! Incredible, I`m that rare one who remains (everybody hate Chiavi, but me...and you;). Almost same reason like you: I a d o r e splatter and slasher! (especielly that spirit of 80-is and movies like Friday the 13th and his variations).

Great episodes you`ve mention (all but Johnny Freak. I don`t appreciate this one - reason you know: too much pathetic). Still add: "Bellezza del demonio" - one of my favorite, a little bit noir atmosphere; "Killer" - yes, it`s only adaptation of Terminator, but still c-u-l-t; "Giorno Maledetto - Sclavi what should be; "Dopo mezzanotte" - briliant, better than original (Scorsese`s After Hours) and, at the same time, real example of appropriate measure of "deep-talking" = just observe life, that`s enough in DD (for further, deeper thoughts are capable only few: they are (and call) - The Rare! sorry, Tiziano don`t belong in that company; his rank is a little bit lower - Observer. But, that is fine attribute too; "Goloconda" - master-pieece of surrealism, which I prefere more than Bunuel (and Dali and Magritte together;) etc...

You`re right about "recovery of splatter-elements"; it`s wrongly disregarded. So, I hope to the Return of the Roots.

Last, I like your point of wiev...so far;)
